The above is misleading. There is substantial error correction in audio
discs, but the last layer used for CD-ROM is missing. Error concealment
is used when needed to maintain the flow of sound in the presence of
read errors.
There is a page on encoding in the primer at my WWW site; it was written
by someone who understands the methodology, something I will not claim
for myself.
