Mr. Nauck,
Hello! My name is Spencer Secoy. I have been an ARSC member for
several years, and this year I am interested in attending the
convention in Seattle. I would like to know what I can expect out of
one of these conventions, the cost to attend the seminars, etc. I
have looked over the ARSC site, and the pre-conference topics look
interesting. I have a great interest in archiving and restoration,
and my experience includes working in a vinyl record pressing plant,
mastering both vinyl lacquers and compact discs, some lp/78's/tape
transfers and restoration, and a degree in recording from Middle
Tennessee State University. Any insight you could give me on the
event would be greatly appreciated!
All the best,
-Spencer J. Secoy
Well, I can guarantee that you will both enjoy and benefit from the
conference. Though the program is not yet settled, you can click on
the past conferences links to see what programs have been like in
the past. This year's conference will be similar in overall scope
and interest, though with a more northwestern bent.
You should find plenty of opportunities in the workshop, lectures
and exhibits room to learn more about archiving and restoration,
because that is what we are all about. You will also find your
discussions with other conference registrants to be of inestimable
value in your work. The people who attend ARSC meetings are the
movers and shakers in the audio archival world!
Please feel free to call me if you would like to ask any questions.
Hope to see you in a few months,
