[ARSCLIST] CHARM post at King's College London



PROJECT COORDINATOR
AHRC CENTRE FOR THE HISTORY AND ANALYSIS OF RECORDED MUSIC

Applications are invited for the post of Web Project Coordinator in the
AHRC-funded Centre for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music (CHARM),
based in the Department of Music, King's College London. This is a fixed-term
appointment for three years from 1 April 2006. 

The successful candidate will continue the development and management of a
website consisting of a database of pre-War recordings of classical music,
supplemented by links to existing web-based resources relevant to research into
recorded music, and material generated by CHARM. Day-to-day tasks include
editing data received from contributors in word processing, spreadsheet and
database files, preparing it to be transferred to the online database, and
inputting data from printed, typewritten and manuscript sources, as well as
dealing with email and written correspondence from contributors and users. The
coordinator will be responsible for developing contacts with archivists,
collectors, discographers and other experts on recorded music, seeking material
to add to the website, and will liaise with staff at the Centre for Computing
in
the Humanities at King?s College who design and maintain the website.

He or she will be capable of meticulous accuracy in repetitive tasks, and must
be able to work independently and as part of a team as well as show initiative
and the ability to prioritise. Experience with a range of office and internet
software is essential; experience with web-based database programs is
desirable. You must have good written and oral English and organisational
skills. And you must have wide-ranging knowledge of musical repertoires in
order to be able to recognize titles of musical compositions, names of
composers and performers, voice and instrument types, and other information
found in discographies, in a variety of spellings and languages.

The salary will be on of the CRA4 scale, currently £18,876 to £21,416 per annum
including £2,323 London Allowance. Please quote reference H4/AAM/17/06.
