Hi Andy:

If you have a Soundblaster Live card in the PC, see if it has a many-pin connection strip on the far 
end of the card (opposite the side that faces out and has the connection sockets). If so, you can 
get a SPDIF bracket for it that has both coax and optical SPDIF connectors. There should be a 
recording mixer as part of the Soundblaster suite and you can thus select and control level for the 
digital ins and out. This may be the least expensive solution. Plan B would be a low-cost USB device 
that has digital inputs.
