I foresee DAT and DTRS tapes being the next big problem to come (not to mention the old PCM-F1 and X-86 tapes!). This is going to make analog tape problems look like a walk in the park in comparison.

Hi, Scott,

There are so many analog tapes out there that I have decided to not further pursue X-86 transfers. The problem is I have two X-86 machines which I wish Eastman School of Music would take from me as they have a huge archive of X-86 tapes. I believe the heads on mine to be in excellent condition. For some reason they don't seem to be interested, but yet I hear through the grapevine they bought another machine in rougher shape than my two for more than I've been asking.

I have two collectors interested in them and I will off-load them in that direction to get them out of my place. I have sworn not to get a storage locker and these are taking up a lot of room.

It is my understanding that Eastman has more un-transferred X-86 tapes than they have remaining head life, but I knew that since Esther Gille was there and that's a while ago.

Heck, I even have the dub cable.

Cheers,

Richard
