Re: [ARSCLIST] Cataloguing again--more OCLC, AACR2 bashing

Knowing absolutely squat, about any of these catalog(u)ing systems,I find them all verrry confusing,to say the least, both when I have read about them on the web,and seen them in use in libraries, that still actually have vinyl. My uneducated mind, asks what is wrong with the KISS,or Keep It Simple Stupid, method, used by most record dealers,in thier lists.Meaning: For Lps have seperate sections for general categories : Rock,Classical,Folk,Jazz, etc. ,and alphabetized according to performer's names. If you want to get really fancy, break jazz and classical down into instrumental, vocal, and symphonic/orchestral subcategories.
Do the same for single records,be they 78 or 45.Either that,or alphabetize them according to label, and then list them numerically according to the label's catalogue number.
   And there's your system.
