[ARSCLIST] Audio Restoration on the Cheap -- Quo Vadis?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a reasonably inexpensive cartridge/stylus combo to 
play 78s on my Benjamin Miracord 40A?

Yes, its not the best turntable, but I'm not about to go into the audio 
restoration business any time soon and I have to work with what I have.

I plan on digitizing the 78s and cleaning them up with Audacity and 
Diamond Cut 6.  I have some early party records, the usual assortment of 
Jazz and Big Band and a few rarities (to me) like Clarence "Pine Top" 
Smith's, "Jump Steady Blues".

Also, what does everyone think of the relative quality of the Tracertek 
CTP-1000, flat response phono preamp?  Anyone have direct experience 
with this unit ?
