Re: [ARSCLIST] Media mail

I have to admit that I have never had any problem with Media Mail except sometimes it is a little slow. Both shipping and receiving have been OK. However sloppy packing is another matter. But mine was not done by the Post Office, who have never opened a pkg up till now. Jack

This is true! I did a transfer of one reel for a guy, and he paid by sending me a large box of junk tape on metal reels (the payment was the metal reels and boxes). As far as I was concerned, because there was ONE for-sure recorded tape in there, the whole thing counted for Media Mail. His post office raised a ruckus but he stuck to his guns and the local postmaster sided with us.

I've had a few reopened , but only one that was sloppily repacked. The
bells seem to go off when the inspector believes the sender is trying to
pull a fast one. Nothing implied here.
There has been a continuing conterversy about what constitutes "
Media". Some postal workers do not consider piano rolls and music box
discs acceptable as" media". I would !

Has anyone had any incidents involving the opening of media mail
containing 78s by the post office? Any where they were badly repacked
by them?

I've not had the experience but am trying to track down a rumor.
