You might take a look at Jacob Smith's "The Frenzy of the Audible: Pleasure, Authenticity, and Recorded Laughter," in Television & New Media 6 (2005):23-47, which deals with laughing records (among other things).

Friends,
I'm looking for material written about laughing records. I'm have the ARSC Journal from Fall 2001 with Abigail Cooke's piece. Is there much else out there? Anything published since then? Thanks much.
