Keep in mind that the definition of "Dance Music" has evolved QUITE
substantially over recent decades!

In fact, a witticism from c.1962, when "The Twist" first appeared...

It seems that President Kennedy had taken a noted African official to
the Peppermint Lounge (or another one of the twist venues...).
As they watched couples dancing "the twist," he remarked to his guest,
"Of couse, I'm sure you don't know what they are doing out there...!"

To which, his international guest replied, "Oh, I KNOW what they are
doing...but why are they so far apart?!"

To-day's "dance music" (better known as "Urban Dance") is simply a
relentless repitition of a computerized approximation of the rhythm
that was so WELL (and invitingly, if you were a dancer...) laid down
by James Brown, back in 1962...and is still being "danced" to some
45 years later...!
