Well, US and UK Columbia still could (and did) maintain an interrelationship;
however, from 1923/4 until 1932, UK Columbia had been the owner of the US
operation. Since EMI, via the Gramophone Company, did have some ownership
of (RCA) Victor...and total ownership of US Columbia via Co(UK)...this new
arrangement ran afoul of Anti-Trust laws in the US, so EMI elected to
sell US Columbia (not all that financially healthy at the time...?!).
