Re: [ARSCLIST] Codecs: Windows NG

I use both systems. I like each for different reasons. I've had vista
for a good while, the full tilt version. It is bloated (as usual),
requires lots of hardware to run as well. I had the devils own time
finding / waiting for drivers for all my hardware. That said, I have
found it entirely stable. Some of the changes were real enhancements,
regrettably not all are in every version. Some times I think it is like
trying to figure out phone company rate plans !! The only real
difficulties I have had were with third party beta drivers. Because of
that I was very frustrated with it at first. If they had waited for
decent third party driver development before releasing it the press
might not have been so bad.

No, I'm not a fan of 'Bill'.... but sometimes MS does some things right,
sometimes you want to kill them. I also credit them with (finally,
perhaps) really diving into the codec's. It would be almost easy to just
sit back at this point and say that with bandwidth and storage abilities
increasing so fast, why compress anything. That would be short sided of
course....

Just my 2.1 cents... :>)

Hi Bob:

I sense the usual blind hatred of all things Microsoft in some quarters
on this list, so your facts might not get through.
