[ARSCLIST] Fwd: [ARSCLIST] Marian Anderson info needed
I've just come across this thread.
I own LRM-7006. What Mike wrote about the titles and side arrangements is
correct. Regarding the recording date, the matrix numbers for LRM-7006 are
E3RL-4753/4. "E3" indicates that it was mastered in 1953. This is speculation, but
if the recordings were made in 1952, wouldn't Victor probably have mastered
the LP for that year's Christmas ("E2")? So I vote for the later recording
date.

Thanks! However, the RCA reissue on AVM1 1735 gives May 1952 as the
recording date. Tracks are in the same sequence as you've shown.
Apparently there are even further date discrepancies: March 6, 1953 and
March 3, 1953 also come into it.

You might want to check with U Penn as there may be accompanying
documentation they received from Marian Anderson (contracts, logs,
diaries) that would settle the matter. They have a ton of this kind of
thing:

Good stuff! I'm sure this is more reliable than the RCA date on the reissue
(they didn't even try for the correct dates on the other side, just showing
"1947").
