Dear Mr. Nauck,
perhaps you can help us in the following matter:
There must have been a special recording of
Elliott Carter?s piece: ?Emblems? for men?s choir and piano.
The Colgate College Singers made an
Europe-Tournee in summer 1952. There the
Carter-piece was performend with Bernhard Weiser
(piano) and James Sykes (cond.).
And it?s said a recording: Label: New Editions
For a musicological research my colleague needs
first of all a proof, that this recording had
been made ? with this musicians and edited at
New Editions. He found traces in literature, but
no proof. And I couldn?t find anything either
.... only the entry in New Grove of first
performance (but this is not, we?re looking for).
You are the very specialist in historic
recordings. I know, what we search, is after
78-rpm-period. But perhaps you have an
information anyway or a hint who could have.
The bibliographical proof, a source, that the
recording exists, would be great enough ... if
there even would be a possibility to get such a
rare record ... would be moon rocks on earth ;-} but very welcome of course ...
Thank you so much in advance,
have a good Easter -
with best wishes from Switzerland,
yours sincerely
