[ARSCLIST] Summer Internships in Recording and Archiving



We're currently hiring interns for the summer and I wanted to see if anyone

StoryCorps is a national oral history project based in Brooklyn, NY that
records the stories of everyday people across the country, and archives
these stories in the Library of Congress for future generations.

Archive Intern

The StoryCorps Facilities & Archive Department manages the upkeep of the
booths and recording equipment, as well as maintaining the in-house archive
and transferring materials to the Library of Congress.  The Facilities &
Archive team is looking for an intern to assist with the management of its
database and archive.  Responsibilities may include but will not be limited
to:

*Prepare interview materials for transfer to the Library of Congress.
*Coordinate volunteer archive processing sessions.
*Assist in establishing StoryCorps Local Archives with partner organizations
around the country.
*Follow up correspondence with participants.
*Additional organizational projects surrounding the archive.

Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills are
required; as is a proficiency with computers (Mac OSX preferred).
 Experience in libraries or archives, or with oral history projects a plus.
 A strong belief in the organization's mission is a must.  This internship
provides an opportunity to gain experience with the archive operations of a
large scale oral history project.

Facilities Intern
The StoryCorps Facilities & Archive Department manages the upkeep of the
booths and recording equipment, as well as maintaining the in-house archive
and transferring materials to the Library of Congress.  The Facilities &
Archive team is looking for an intern to assist with the management of its
recording booths and other equipment.  Responsibilities may include but will
not be limited to:

*Assist in solving facilities-related and recording issues.
*Perform regular equipment inspections.
*Research and implement repairs and upgrades to equipment and facilities.
*Maintain equipment inventory.
*Provide technical support around recording processes to staff.
*Perform quality control on interview materials.

Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills are
required, as is a proficiency with computers (Mac OSX preferred).
 Experience working with audio recording is necessary and familiarity with
basic digital photography equipment is a plus.  A strong belief in the
organization's mission is a must.  This internship provides an opportunity
to gain experience with the technical aspects of a large scale oral history
project.

StoryKit Intern
StoryKits are designed for a do-it-yourself approach to the StoryCorps
interview.  Each kit contains recording equipment and instructions for use.
 StoryCorps' Facilities & Archive team is looking for an intern to assist
with the StoryKit program.  Responsibilities may include but will not be
limited to:

   * Manage and track StoryKit field recording equipment.
   * Process StoryKit interview materials in preparation for transfer to the
Library of Congress.
   * Provide technical support related to StoryKit equipment.
   * Create and maintain office resources for the StoryKit program.
   * Track special archive initiative participants of the StoryKit program.
   * Follow up correspondence with participants.

Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills are
required, as is a basic proficiency with computers.  Experience working with
audio recording equipment is a plus.  A strong belief in the organization's
mission is a must.  This internship provides an opportunity to gain
experience with the technical aspects of a large scale oral history project.
