This is kind of the long way around. The food dehydrator method preserves the condition of tape to tape splices remarkably well. Most splices to paper leader will need to be replaced even if the tape has no sticky-shed problem.
Determining which segments need treatment is very difficult without clogging up the guides of the reproduce machine in the process. I would just hold the reel up to the light and make sure none of the masters pass light which means they are acetate base and should not be baked. This would be very unlikely for anything produced after the late 1960s.
