Re: [ARSCLIST] NBC chimes and routing

Without a lot more research, I can't add much to the configuration of AT&T lines for the NBC radio networks, but I do know that the pre-satellite NPR network lines were split into "round robin" loops through the east and midwest, and an "overhead" connection that started in Colorado and moved through the southeast and then up the west coast from San Diego to Seattle, then east to Eastern Washington and Montana.

The round-robins allowed any station on that part of the network to originate programming to the whole network with a simple patch at the nearest AT&T program operating center.

I have a 1978 system map and the technical details from the NPR Engineering Handbook if anybody's interested.

I would assume that NBC, CBS and Mutual all used similar routing back in the day.
