I have a recording date of August, 1943 for Asch set 343 by Lead Belly.  Moe
settled with the Petrillo interests that October.  

 

Lead Belly was on the radio and performed in enough live venues that he must
have been a union member.   

 

Has anyone an accurate date for the session that makes up this set?  If my
date is accurate, what was going on?   Is this a case of he being a folk
musician (vocalist) and the guitar accompaniment didn't count?
