American Creativity and the Arts: A work in progress
The genesis of creativity, the repurposing of creativity

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (also derivative work) becomes West Side
Story
Amazing Grace—changes over years, various versions
How creativity responds to popular culture—jazz age, surf music and
movies, the West portrayed in music, dance, movies, plays, dime

great themes
Give kids digital items to make their own creations (your version of the
Wizard of Oz or Amazing Grace)
Band music—part of a tradition, at one point these songs were top
sellers
Choral music
Create virtual worlds—plays, etc.
Mash-ups of digital LC items
Events: master classes, concerts, symposia, record those and put them

the creative process, bring in students as audiences, see what they
