Re: [ARSCLIST] revisiting tape bakers
Hi All
Notwithstanding any of the arguments/counter arguments of the two
proponents, I (and many others) have found that baking tapes with SSS
allows a good transfer to be made, where one was impossible before.
While I find it great fun - and very enlightening - to watch two
'heavyweights' in the field of tape restoration/archiving discuss this
matter, I guess I am like most people here and nothing I have read so
far is going to convince me not to continue using a process that has
proven extremely effective for its intended purpose, i.e. to enable the
playing of a tape for copying to another medium.
For all the technical argument, practical experience has shown me
(and, I would imagine, a lot of other people) that it works.... and
works well.
