[ARSCLIST] Job opportunity at Indiana University
The Indiana University School of Music seeks candidates for the position of
digitization engineer in the Department of Recording Arts, a
tenure-ineligible 12-month, renewable appointment at the rank of Academic
Specialist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as primary digitization engineer for audio and video recordings held
by the William and Gayle Cook Music Library. Conduct research into best
practices and methodology for preserving audio and video recordings using
established international standards. Oversee the operation and technical
support of the Variations transfer lab and audio preservation lab in the
Cook Music Library. Teach one course per year in audio preservation and
archiving.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in audio production or related field, or equivalent
combination of education and work experience in an audio archive. Three
years experience in the following: (a) working with analog tape, PCM F-1
format digital tape and Digital Audio Tape, and lacquer transcription discs;
(b) use and support of audio capture and editing software; (c) operation and
maintenance of analog and digital audio playback equipment; and (d) advanced
administration and troubleshooting of Windows-based desktop computers.
Working knowledge of classical music and the ability to read a musical score
required.
