RE: [AV Media Matters] CD burner question
Joe has probably hit the nail on the head, so I will not add too much
except to suggest that you download & install a software application
like Nero and back something up onto a disc using the UDF format. Then,
try this disc in one of your other PCs.
Jim,
The "built-in" CD recording capability of Windows XP (see
http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/expertzone/columns/bridgman/august13.
asp)
creates ISO 9660 formatted discs using session-at-once recording. This
is
conventional CD recording which requires no formatting of the CD media
beforehand.
Formatting only becomes an issue when CDs are written in UDF format,
using
a utility like Direct CD. Perhaps the problem is that your other
computer
is creating/expecting UDF format discs while your XP is
creating/expecting
ISO format discs.
