Re[2]: microfilm prices
At the National Library of Medicine we have a contractor handle the
duplication and sale of our microfilm. We use this contract to have
service copy microfilm produced for our collection when needed and for
purchase requests from outside individuals or institutions. The
actual requests for purchase are received by Library staff who verify
bibliographic information and perform technical inspection (in the
case of microfilm produced in the distant past when we did not use the
current preservation standards) before sending the film to the
contractor for duplication. All financial dealings are handled by the
contractor who takes credit cards or checks. This has worked well
because the money we used to receive from microfilm sales when we
handled it directly was returned to the U.S. Treasury.
The NLM fact sheet describing this program for users, including costs,
is available at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/microflm.html
The statement of work for this contract is not yet available on our
Home Page (but will soon be joining the rest of our statements of work
there).
The NLM Preservation and Collection Management Section Home Page is

You may contact me directly if you wish a copy.

Becky, I would be interested in seeing the responses to your message.
On the listserv. Perhaps others would, too.
