At the ALA Annual meeting in San Francisco we the PARS Library Binding
Discussion Group and the Physical Quality and Treatment Discussion Group
will be holding a joint meeting with to discuss, "Developing Criteria for
Making Treatment and Binding Decisions for Damaged Library Materials."  

These two groups will meet together this one time because members of both
groups have independently requested a discussion on how to choose the most
appropriate kind of treatment for damaged materials.  A panel will include
Lynn Jones, Assistant Department Head and Head of Conservation Treatment
and Binding, from the University of California*Berkeley, Normandy Helmer,
Head of Preservation and Binding Section, University of Oregon Libraries,
and Brian J. Baird, Preservation Librarian, University of Kansas Libraries.
   

Each panel member will present their opinions on how to make treatment
decisions, followed by discussion from the floor.  This meeting is
scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 1997, from 1:00-4:00 in the San Miguel room
on the Grand Hyatt.
