FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The aim is to bring together experiences of running and
reinstating information service in war torn areas and the scenes
of disasters such as fire, flood and earthquake. The intention is
to publish a conference proceeding (either as separate book, or
through the Pages of IGLA's journal focus) so that this pooled
experience can be of as much as much as possible to those facing
similar problems.
The programme will include invited papers, but IGLA also issues
the following invitation to who might wish to contribute to the
programme themselves.
Call for papers
Proposals are invited for both to be included in the programme of
IGLA's 1998 conference "Disaster and after" both from practising
librarians and from others with knowledge and experience of
providing information services under the constrains of war and
comparable catastrophes. Your proposal should include the title
of the paper, your name, afiliation, address, phone, fax and email,
and abstract of no more than 200 words. Proposals should be send
to the chairman of IGLA at the address at the end of this
announcement, by December 1997.
Decisions on the acceptance of proposals will be made at the beginning
of January 1998, and you will be notified of IGLA's decision
before the end of the month. Copies of papers which are accepted
by the organisers will be required (on disc and in hard copy) one
month before the date of the conference, in a format that will be
notified to those whose proposal are accepted.
Address to which proposals should be sent
