Gaylord Collections Conservation Award



A reminder that applications for the Gaylord Collections Conservation 
Award are due December 1 (no extensions).  

This award  supports training in collections conservation.
Conservators and technicians working in libraries and 
archives are elegible (preservation administrators are not). Training 
can be formal (courses, workshops) or informal (apprenticeships or 
short-term internships).  
 

THE GAYLORD 
COLLECTIONS CONSERVATION AWARD

Scope:  The Gaylord Collections Conservation Award was established to 
support the professional development of individuals involved in the 
conservation of general library collections and archives.  Applicants 
will be judged by the quality of the proposal, their qualifications, and 
the potential impact of the proposal on the collections in their care. 

Eligibility:  The applicant should be an individual engaged full-time in 
the conservation treatment of library or archive collections (book, 
paper, photographic materials).  Fundable activities include workshops, 
courses, internships (formal and informal), and conferences on topics 
related to conservation treatment. Funds may be used for tuition, 
registration fees, travel, or accommodation costs. The applicant must be 
a resident of North America. 

Award:  $1000 grant for the activities described in the grant 
application, plus an all expense paid trip to attend the annual 
conference of the American Institute for Conservation in Washington, 
D.C., in June 1998. Travel reimbursement will cover airfare from within 
the United States.

Obligations:  The award activities must take place between June 1, 1998, 
and May 30, 1999. The winner must submit a brief report before May 30, 
1999.

Deadline:  Application forms must be received by December 1, 1997.  No 
extensions will be granted.
