ALA Midwinter Meeting, San Antonio, TX
Gunter Hotel, Bluebonnet Room
Sunday, January 16, 2000
9 - 11 a.m.
The meeting will begin with a round robin and announcements, then turn to a
report from the Cooperative Preservation Models Survey Task Force. The
principal discussion topic will be
TWO ON THE SAME TURF
Relationships between regional consortia with field services programs and
smaller (state) cooperative programs: is the relationship complementary,
collaborative, competitive, serendipitous, necessary, or irrelevant? Robert
James, Julie Arnott, and Normandy Helmer will lead off this discussion topic
with the presentation of three points of view. Robert James, President of
the North Carolina Preservation Consortium, will provide a state
organization view of the relationship with a larger regional preservation
consortia. Julie Arnott, Preservation Services Manager at SOLINET, will
discuss that organization?s relationships with smaller consortia within the
region. Normandy Helmer, Head of Preservation at the University of Oregon,
will review efforts to organize cooperative preservation activities in an
area of the country in which there are no existing regional preservation
consortia.
