Cooperative preservation on the road: foreign ventures
Please join us for a program of presentations by a panel who will utilize
slides to illustrate cooperative international preservation projects of
note. The panel consists of:
· Ann Russell, Executive Director, Northeast Document Conservation Center,
who will talk about several projects around the world, particularly in
Eastern Europe and Russia, and foreign conservators training in this
country;
· John Dean, Director, Department of Preservation and Conservation, Cornell
University Library, who will discuss his work in Southeast Asia;
· Jeanne Drewes, Assistant Director for Access and Preservation, Michigan
State University Libraries, who will talk about her projects in Cuba.
In addition to the specific projects discussed, issues that present
themselves as questions include lessons learned, what it takes to carry out
such projects, and are these sorts of projects only for the largest entities
to undertake. As always there will be ample opportunity for questions and
response after the presentations.
Other Discussion Group business that must be addressed before the conclusion
of the meeting includes the election of new chair(s) for the coming year.
Self-nominations are requested and will be happily accepted by email before
the meeting or from the floor.
