This two-day symposium for directors and administrators who oversee preservation and collections security programs in libraries, museums, and archives will provide institutional leaders the opportunity to learn how colleagues are handling concerns related to formulating strategies, using measurements, and justifying budgets for funders. Plenary and breakout sessions have been designed to enable participants to explore concerns that overlap and lend themselves to complementary solutions. Experts in the cultural heritage community will lead sessions on:
o the challenges confronting the stewards of our nation's cultural heritage;
o developing preservation and security strategies, priorities, and expectations;
o measuring the effectiveness of preservation and security programs;
o coping with theft, vandalism, deterioration, and bad press;
o building the preservation and security budget and successfully promoting the program;
o the preservation and security challenges of electronic information and digitization;
o innovations in security and preservation; and
o cooperating nationally and internationally to preserve and secure collections.

Registration Fee: $225 per person
Prepayment is required and the fee includes lunches on both days and the evening reception in the beautiful Great Hall of the Library of Congress.
