[PADG:1166] RE: library schools
As chair of the Education Committee, I am pleased to report that revision of
the publication is in process. Julie Arnott is overseeing the data
collection. The impact of LIS preservation coursework sounds like a very
interesting article topic!

Patricia, are you aware of the ALCTS publication that lists all the library
schools that offer preservation/conservation courses? I know it's a little
out of date (1995), but it might help. The current edition is available on
the web at http://www.ala.org/alcts/publications/presed.html.

Hello,
Does anyone know of a listing or survey of the percentage of library
schools that offer classes in preservation, and which ones they are? Also,
what percentage of the graduates have taken such classes? I'm interested in
finding out the likelihood of recent graduates' exposure to preservation
classes. I assume it's much higher than in the past, say, 20 years ago, but
I may be wrong. Just because the courses are offered, it doesn't
necessarily follow that students will take them.
I appreciate all leads.
