         Responsible for: conservation
treatment and document treatment of various formats including
         archival materials,
rare books, drawings, prints, maps, art on paper, photographs, unbound
         manuscripts and select
artifacts; collection assessment and maintenance of the conservation lab
         and equipment. Ensure
inventory of lab materials and supplies; participate in special projects
and
         serve on relevant
committees; consult with subject area specialists; recommend outside
         conservation treatment
services as needed; and assist with conservation on rare books and
         manuscripts. Candidate
must have strong organizational and communication skills, including
         demonstrated ability
to document treatments, write specifications, prepare reports and analyze
and
         solve problems. Conservator
will provide monthly statistics and reports, special reports and
         surveys and attend
meetings, workshops and training courses as assigned.
         Qualifications: Master's
degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution
         supplemented by three
years of post-graduate library experience including one year of supervisory
         experience.
         Entry salary: $45,948/year;
excellent benefits.
         Portfolio required:
all applicants should submit at time of application a portfolio of
         successful collections
conservation treatments performed. Portfolio will be returned after
         interview process.
