Head of Collection Preservation and Care
Salary: ALC5 plus discretionary points: £33,820 to £40,176

The University of Oxford's many libraries contain the largest and most
diverse collections for the support of teaching and research in any
institution of higher education in the United Kingdom.   OULS currently
consists of 30 libraries, including the major research libraries of the
Bodleian with its legal deposit privileges, the Taylor Institution Library
and the Sackler Library.

The Head of Preservation and Collection Care will be a key member of Senior
Management, taking part in strategic-decision making and leading a large
team of skilled professional and technical staff.    The postholder will be
expected to continue the development of an overall preservation and
conservation strategy for Oxford University Libraries, for all types and
formats of material, and to play a central role in securing and deploying
the resources needed in order to deliver this strategy.

Substantial experience of library work at a senior management level will be
expected together with significant knowledge and experience of the
technical aspects of preservation and conservation.  Proven leadership
skills and sympathy with and enthusiasm for library collections will be
vital as well as an understanding of the issues and challenges associated
with preservation in a developing arena.
