Hello, PADG -

ACRL's Rare Books & Manuscripts Section (RBMS) has recently formed a task 
force to review and/or update the 1993 "ACRL Guidelines on the Selection of 
General Collection Materials for Transfer to Special Collections."

On behalf of the task force, I invite interested PARS members to attend the 
first task force meeting: Saturday/Jan. 15, 2005, 2-4pm.

[Note: check the ALA conference schedule under the header "RBMS..." for 
room location.]

A 15 min. overview and discussion of the "Transfer..." guidelines is also 
on the agenda of the PARS Discussion Grp.: Sunday/16 January, 4:30-5:30pm.

The 1993 "Transfer..." guidelines can be viewed by clicking on "Standards & 
Guidelines" under the STANDARDS drop-down menu at: www.rbms.nd.edu

Comments and suggested edits to the current guidelines are welcome from 
anyone - not just PARS members - and may be emailed to:

fyi, draft and final revisions of the task force's work on the guidelines 
will be published in a future issue of _C&RL News_.
