The University of Kansas Libraries invites applications 
for a Head of Special Collections/ Archives Processing in Spencer Research 
Library.  The head, under the 
direction of Spencer Librarian, is responsible for managing Spencer Library’s 
technical services functions and processing-related work of all staff in the 
Spencer Library. This includes work in the acquisition (purchasing), receiving, 
describing and preparing for use all items, regardless of format, that are to be 
added to the collections.  The head 
is responsible for planning and organizing processing activities and 
coordinating processes and procedures with those practices being followed in the 
Libraries’ central processing and preservation/conservation operations and with 
the efforts of the Libraries’ Digital Initiatives group.  The Head, Special Collections/Archives 
Processing, is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the Libraries’ 
objectives and fulfillment of the Libraries’ strategic 
plan.
 
A librarian in a tenure track position must engage in 
scholarly activities, research and publishing in an area of faculty choice and 
must perform service activities for the University and relevant professional 
associations.
