All, For those of you who were able to come to the PADG meeting in Boston last month, you heard Suzy Palmer, Editor of the journal 'Microform and Imaging and Review', speak on some the articles published in the journal that were written in response to the ARL white paper "Recognizing Digitization as a preservation reformatting option". For a variety of reasons, Ms. Palmer is stepping down from her post as Editor of the journal. She has asked me to forward the position description to the PADG list on her behalf. If you are interested in the position, please feel free to contact her with any questions, comments or concerns you may have and I am sure she would be more than willing to discuss them with you. Cathy ========================== Editorial position open Editor-in-Chief, Microform & Imaging Review Microform & Imaging Review (MIR) seeks a new Editor-in-Chief to assume responsibility for the journal. MIR provides continuous reporting on projects and technical developments in libraries and archives. Microforms play an important role for the preservation of library holdings and valuable collections. With the introduction of new technologies, digitization has become another central issue in the field of preservation. Published quarterly, MIR publishes articles from librarians, micropublishers, and others who work with and are interested in all subjects related to microform materials and digital imaging technology. Articles may address, but are not limited to, issues of acquisition, collection development, maintenance, preservation, equipment for and use of microforms, digital images, etc. Both technical services and public services perspectives are represented, including case studies of projects from individual libraries or other institutions. In addition, MIR publishes reports on individual preservation microfilming and imaging projects. The Editor-in-Chief should have good knowledge of microform and imaging issues in libraries and archives. He or she should also have good contacts with colleagues from different countries, who can contribute as authors to MIR. The new editor would assume responsibility beginning with the summer 2005 issue that goes to press in early August. The current Editor-in-Chief will work with the new editor for a smooth transition. The position includes a stipend and some travel expenses.
