[PADG:1266] Heritage Preservation's 2006 Annual Meeting

Solutions for the challenges facing America's collections will be the
focus of Heritage Preservation's 2006 Annual Meeting on November 15, at
1:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and
Portraiture of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. Anyone with
an interest in this important subject is welcome to attend the meeting
and take advantage of this opportunity to see the new Lunder
Conservation Center.

Anne-Imelda Radice, Director of the Institute of Museum and Library
Services, will be the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Radice recently announced
that conservation of collections will be the focus of the agency's 10th
anniversary year, so this will be an opportunity to hear about the
initiatives she is planning. James Reilly of the Image Permanence
Institute will speak about new approaches to environmental protection of
collections, and Marjie Gowdy of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum in Biloxi,
Mississippi will discuss her institution's experiences in the wake of
Hurricane Katrina.

The meeting will also feature a post-election legislative analysis from
Shailagh Murray of the Washington Post and Jessica Jones Irons of the
National Humanities Alliance. Brief presentations on future Heritage
Preservation initiatives will complete the session.

The reception that follows the meeting will include an opportunity to
tour the new Lunder Conservation Center, with its conservation labs open
