All,
During an April 2006 summit, the ALA Office of Information Technology
Policy (OITP) Task Force on Digital Content's Principles for Digital
Content-Draft Proposal was developed. This document, which includes 9
recommendations including one concerning digital preservation issues,
will be presented to the ALA Council for discussion and approval in
2007. Summit participants included Howard Besser, Nancy Davenport, Dan
Greenstein, Cliff Lynch, Brian Schottlaender, and others from AALL,
ALISE, SLA, NISO, AASL, AMIA, DLF, LITA and ACRL.

Liz Bishoff, consultant to the OITP task force, will be making a 20
minute presentation on the TF and its recommendations at the Digital
Preservation Discussion Group (DPDG), which will be meeting on Sunday,
January 21st, at 8am, at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Seattle.
The full and final agenda of the DPDG, with location information, will
be send out to this list serv later next week.
