Please join us for the third
and final program in our series, "Saving Sound 3: Audio Digitization
and Preservation" at ALA Annual. The program will be held on
Sunday, June 24, from 4-5:30 p.m. in Salon II at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, 1331
Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, DC. This year's session will
focus on the use of new technology for audio preservation.
Speakers will cover
digitization of audio materials, funding opportunities for audiovisual digitization and preservation,
client/vendor relationships, and preservation of digitized audio
materials. Our speakers include George Blood, President, Safe Sound
Archive; Joyce Ray, Associate Deputy Director for Library Services,
Institute of Museum and
Library Services (IMLS); and Tara Kennedy, Preservation Field Services
Librarian, Yale University Libraries.
The program is designed for
librarians who are responsible for audio collections. Handouts for this
and the two previous Saving Sound sessions will be available on CD. For
