Dear PADG,
I have an invitation to attend the next Connecting to Collections
conference in Denver, June 24-25. This is immediately preceding the ALA
Annual Conference dates (June 26-July 2). See below. ALCTS was
represented at the first one in Atlanta and I would like to have someone
attend this one. If you are interested in going, please contact me
directly at cwilt@xxxxxxx. Expenses
to attend are not paid, so you would have to be able to attend on your
own. There is no registration fee with the invitation.
I do request that the person attending write up a short article for the ALCTS
Newsletter Online.

Denver, Colorado

Dr. Anne-Imelda M. Radice,
Director, The Institute of Museum and Library Services, in partnership with
Heritage Preservation, invites you to participate in "Collaboration in
the Digital Age," a forum of Connecting to Collections: A Call to Action,
June 24 and 25, 2008, in Denver. The forum is co-sponsored by the Denver
Public Library, the Colorado Historical Society, and the Denver Art Museum.
This forum responds to the
Heritage Health Index result that shows nearly 60% of collecting organizations
do not include digital preservation in their mission or programs. Designed to
help small to mid-sized institutions, the program will review the
fundamentals of digitization and digital preservation and emphasize
practical, strategic, and collaborative approaches. Click here to learn more about the program.
Francie Alexander, Senior Vice
President of Scholastic Education and Chief Academic Officer of Scholastic
Inc., will be the first of many speakers, including leaders in the digital
collections field and other distinguished professionals from across the
nation. The keynote speaker will be Elizabeth Broun, The Margaret and Terry
Stent Director, Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Forum events will be held at the three sponsoring institutions, all located
just south of Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. Details will be sent to
registered participants.
