Title: Joint Session Agenda: Library Binding Discussion Group and Physical Quality and Treatment Discussion Group

Please join us Sunday, June 29th from 1:30-3:30 at the Disney's Paradise Pier, Room Pacific A, for a joint session.  During the 2008 ALA Annual meeting, the Library Binding Discussion Group will team up with the Physical Quality and Treatment Discussion Group to bring you a jammed packed session! Don't forget to attend the “Staying Alive:  Books Through Print-on-Demand Technology” Program during the Physical Quality and Treatment time slot on Saturday, June 28th from 10:30-12:00 at the Anaheim Convention Center, room 304 A/B

1:30 – 1:35             Greeting and Introductions

1:35 – 2:20             Follow up discussion: Staying Alive:  Books Through Print-on-Demand

2:20 – 2:45     Cover Material Discussion: Follow up from Midwinter discussion on Book Cloth (C1-cloth.) and update on Linen Cortina Conservation Buckram.

2:45 – 3:00     Library Binding Tool Kit Discussion: The Library Binding Tool kit will be discussed.  Discussion led by Laura Cameron

3:00 – 3:10     Discussion: Combining discussion groups.  Discussion groups changing to Interest groups.

3:10 – 3:20     Discussion: Topics for future meetings?  What issues do you face in your library or bindery that you would like to see discussed at future meetings? Are you a small to mid-sized library?  What topics would be helpful to your and your institution? Topics, demos, presentations, etc.

3:20 – 3:30     Discussion:  Time allowing, the following topics may be discussed.
·       Changes in collection policies – going from paper to online subscriptions.  If a majority of what the binderies are doing is journals and journal subscriptions go to 70% online, and only 30% paper, how does the bindery stay in business?
