Hello, With so much talk about digitizing the content of books the
question many folks have is: “What is the future of the physical
book?” The physical book in question is general collection material.
What of the paper-based general collection/reference materials? What are the
implications for the commercial library binding industry? What about in-house
repair operations for these collections? What or how are these collections in
an increasingly digital world changing/driving preservation activity? The new PARS Program Planning & Publications Committee
talked about the above program idea for Annual 2010. We are looking for a PARS
member to further develop the idea into a program. Please contact Donia Conn, bookconservator@xxxxxxxxx , Sarah
Erekson serekson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx , or
me Roberta.pilette@xxxxxxxx if
you are interested. Thanks Bobbie Pilette Head, Preservation Dept Yale University Library |
