I'm pretty sure Brandon is referring to the WAV file header, that wee place
where you can cram in a bit of textual metadata into an audio file using
the RIFF. In a Windows PCM WAV it is akin to a somewhat more robust MP3
ID3 Tag. Since my current audio editor (Audition 1.0) doesn't support BWF
creation, I've yet to actually see inside the BWF header.
Why are we speculating? If Brandon, the OP, is reading, he can write to
tell us what he meant. There appear to be two cases of interest:
1. The discs contain data files of the audio. In that case, an additional
file may be written to the disc with its 'catalogue card'. It would contain
the unique identifier; the disc's label may in practice *be* that
identifier. Putting non-audio information into the audio (data) files would
be of little value, but should do little harm.
2. The discs contain CD-DA. In that case, they may be CD Extra, Enhanced
CD, or even Mixed Mode, thereby incorporating the file as above. In
addition (or instead) the identifer can be entered in the CD Text field.
The problem is not finding good answers but understanding the question.
