Yes, but if sales are any indication of what people are listening to...

They are listening to recordings of music that do not fully exploit the
available dynamic range. They are also listening with poor quality
headphones and/or poor quality audio systems. Further, I would wager many
are listening with ears significantly damaged by long term exposure
to listening at excessive amplitude levels.

As I write this, I wonder if some people listen at too high of a level to
compensate for the inefficiency of their audio systems.
