I find the Sound devices to be the best recoredr I have used since the  
Nagra IV-S. Very good and easy to use. By audio competent I meant  
needing great sound... Glad to hear they are easier than a Tascam to  
use!

Wealthy, yes. But I can report that we use the similar but  
lower-priced 722 here to record concerts and the students who record  
have found it very easy to work with. Some are not particularly  
experienced with audio, yet the learning curve is not steep and they  
have had a much easier time setting levels and making good recordings  
than with the Tascam DA-P1's that we've used in the past.
