Actually, with virtually all LP's there was originally a producer in the
"driver's seat"...and he was the party who determined what was recorded
and HOW it was recorded (and, after being recorded, was then "mixed!").
So, when playing any recording, you get only the sound that someone
else...or the limitations of the then-current technology used...or
both...allowed to be recorded! Naturally, this isn't always anything
like the actual sound of the performance which was recorded.

Worse yet, unless you have been fortunate enough to acquire "store-
new" copies of your analog recordings, what you hear is also limited
by the inevitable wear that occured as styli met disc surface.
