Well, I literally grew up with UHF TV in central Illinois...in the early
fifties,
there were no usable channels for our area...which was too far from Chicago
and/or St. Louis to get reliable reception, while at the same time being
too close to share a VHF channel on an interference-free basis. As a result,
we didn't get decent TV service until the UHF band was opened up...and
Decatur, Peoria, Springfield and Bloomington all got UHF stations...!
Also, it seems to me that there would be a lot more demand for the UHF
frequencies (which already lost ch. 71-83 to the cell phone industry)...?
