Serials microfilming

We are in the midst of a large scale preservation microfilming project.
We've encountered a cluster of serial titles (unfilmed so far, of course)
that extend from the mid nineteenth century nearly to the present day. We
would like to film the entire titles complete, even though a substantial
portion of the title falls outside the "era of the brittle book." We are
testing the paper in decade-wide samples from the 1940s to determine the pH
levels. Assume the paper is acidic across the board. What is the best
practice in such situations?
