[PADG:1857] RE: MLS programs - Preservation and Conservation

I am forwarding this inquiry out to all of you, as I am unaware of a
resource providing current information on library school programs with
an emphasis on preservation (apart from UT).

Please respond directly to Michele, not to me ... unless you've got a
resource I really should know about the next time I get this question!

Thanks!

..... I'd also like to take you up on your offer to forward my question
(below) to the Preservation Admin's discussion list. Feel free to post
me email address so they can respond to me directly if they want to.
Thanks!

Michele,

There is not an up-to-date listing such as you seek.

One avenue would be for you to e-mail the current chair of the ALCTS
PARS Education Committee....

Another is to review the listing in the 1995 directory, with a goal of
limiting your investigations to the programs listed. See
http://www.ala.org/alcts/publications/presed.html

Finally, if you'd like, I could forward your inquiry to the
Preservation Administrators' Discussion List, where I'm sure you'll
get
prompt replies with reports of programs.

Let me know.

Hello -

I am an ALA member currently enrolled in the MLS program at Syracuse
University. I'm hoping you can tell me what ALA-accredited
institutions in the US offer a specialization in
conservation/preservation. I know that U.T. Austin has one (their PCS
program), but I'm sure there must be others. The web page listing all
accredited programs doesn't seem to indicate this subset of MLS/MSLIS
degrees. I could contact all the
programs listed but was hoping that you might be able to direct me
more specifically. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks --
