We d be interested in hearing
your thoughts on the effectiveness of the DGs. If you could take a
few minutes and fill out and return this brief survey along with any
comments it would be very much appreciated.
Should PARS continue to
support the following DGs?
DISCUSSION GROUP
YES
NO
No
Binding
Automation
No.
This could be incorporated under the Library Binding DG.
Cooperative
Preservation Programs
No.
Having attended these meetings, I have to say that they are repetive and
predictable as there are very few cooperatiuve programs an they do not
change.
Library
Binding
Yes.
Still a need for this group especially given new issues regarding
electronic
journals.
Micropublishers
No.
Seems
less
important
now.
PARS
Yes.
Performas a useful
function.
Photographic
and Recording Media
Yes.
Increasing interest in this
area.
Physical
Quality and Treatment of Library Materials
Yes.
The only place where conservation can be discussed at
ALA.
Preservation
Administration
Yes.
A good venue for new ideas affecting
adimistration.
Preservation
Instruction, Education and Outreach
No.
Seems
redundant.
Small
to Mid-sized Preservation Program Discussion Group
No.
We are all the same
boat.
Reformating
Yes,
but only up to a
point.
For DGs you feel should
not be supported, would a Special Interest Group be better?

If yes, which of the DGs would be better as a SIG:
