>The goals of this project are:
>o Convert the primary catalog records and ledgers into digital images
>o Transfer digital images to microfilm (COM) for archival storage
>o Store the microfilm and a copy of the digital images in a secure,

>In collaboration with the Project Team, the Project Manager will:

>o Develop and monitor the conversion workplan and timeline.
>o Assist in development of detailed scanning specifications
>o Identify potential vendors; prepare and evaluate RFPs
>o Coordinate on site set-up with appropriate museum personnel
>o Coordinate delivery of materials to scanning area from scientific
>departments; ensure adequate security before, during and after
>scanning
>o Work with vendor to ensure proper handling of source documents and
>that digital images meet specification
>o Monitor throughput and costs; prepare regular reports on project
>progress
>o Develop and coordinate post-scanning workflow for digital images
>post-scanning, including quality control, transfer to COM vendor, transfer
>to Museum network

>QUALIFICATIONS
>
>REQUIRED:
>ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent experience
>Demonstrated knowledge of digital imaging practices and standards
>Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
>Supervisory or project management experience
>
>PREFERRED:
>Ability to develop or implement automated routines to facilitate project tasks
>Knowledge of library preservation issues and experience handling rare and
>fragile materials
>
